Legislative Luncheon, Teacher & Student Scholarships
2009 Legislative Luncheon
Following Student Day at the Legislature, student presidents and representatives from Idaho professional-technical student organizations hosted the 11th annual Legislative Luncheon on January 15. This collaborative effort with the Division of Professional-Technical Education and the Idaho Professional-Technical Education Foundation provides students the opportunity to network with Idaho business representatives and legislators and discuss specific programs and career plans. The highlight of the luncheon is the awarding of the Robert R. Lee Promise Scholarship recipient.
Senator Robert Lee from Rexburg led the formation of scholarship award. The scholarship is offered to Idaho students based on academic or technical merit. This $3,000 scholarship is renewable for up to four years for Idaho residents enrolled full-time at an Idaho state-funded college or university.
Amy Kuther from Nez Perce, Idaho was selected as the 2008/2009 Professional-Technical recipient for Robert R. Lee Promise Scholarship. Amy is enrolled in a two-year administrative assistant program with extended studies in bookkeeping and accounting at Lewis-Clark State College. Consistent with a high GPA pattern started in high school, Amy continues to excel and still finds the time to serve her community coaching junior-high volley ball. Determined to fund her own education, her drive and dedication earned the Robert R. Lee Promise Scholarship as well as the 2008 Governor's Cup Scholarship. Her volunteer work, leadership, and public service, and commitment to excellence serve as a model during these difficult economic times. The Idaho Professional-Technical Education extends its congratulations.
Governor Butch Otter helped close the event by signing the proclamation for Professional-Technical Education Week.
